After approval from the Planning Department, drawings
will be submitted to the Engineer for structural design. If
the design is simple, the UBC (Uniform Building Code)
requirements for conventional framing may be used
instead of Engineering. The conventionally framing
design will be provided by Beyond the Box. Usually
some consultation from a structural engineer is required
for every project. After some final preparation by
Beyond the Box, the final design will be submitted for
Building Department approval. Additional drawings
provided by other consultants, such as Structural
drawings and Title 24 drawings, will be submitted at this
time as well. The Building Department will review the
submittal during their Plan Check process. The Building
Department will submit Plan Check comments back to
the designer and the engineer which usually involve minor
revisions all resulting in the receipt of a Building Permit.
